Adams Birthday and Carsons first "outing"

Today, Adam turned 29, which is weird. This past year has flown by! It amazes me!

This weekend, Carson got lots of love from his grandparents, from both sides! Adams parents came over, his dad arrived on Saturday, and his mom and grandpa (Carsons Great Grandpa) arrived on Sunday, just for the day. He enjoyed spending time with them...and getting all the love and attention! He is one loved boy! His great grandpa even cried when he first saw him...just because it is a big deal to have great grandparents around!

Sunday, Adams family celebrated his and Scott's birthdays (which was really on the 30th). It was a relaxing day, I hung around the house, got a much needed nap, and then they opened presents! Adams big present from his parents was the couch we got on memorial day...but he still got a new computer moniter from Scott. This thing is huge, 22 inches! I can read what is written on the screen from across the room! Adam of course is in love with it.

Then, Carsons Grandpa Dave and Grandma Pam dropped by to take us all out to dinner. They gave him some loves prior to us going out for eats! We decided on Mexican food from up the road, which we love. Carson was great the entire time, the only time he ever got fussy was when the food came. I swear that he knows food is here, because he gets cranky and will start to whine a little. It was nice to be able to go out to eat though, and I appreciated the fact that they took us out!

Monday was our first real outing, other than going to doctor appointments with Carson. We decided that we would take Parker to the dog park...which probably wasn't the best idea, considering it was 80+ degrees outside! We did walk around for about 20 minutes, but it was too hot for Carson. Still, it's weird to do these outings. It took us an hour and a half to get ready, for a short outing! After the park, we got some sushi from our favorite place, to go. We ordered way too much, but it is so worth it to be able to eat sushi again! Adam opened his presents. I got him a french press, 2 lbs of starbucks coffee to go with it, a new coffee cup, and some jack daniels. The coffee at his work is HORRIBLE, so I figured that the french press would be a good idea! He loved it!

I did forget to mention that on the 26th, Carsons Uncle Jerad and Aunt Lisa stopped by with some food for us! They got to hang out and spend some time with Carson. It was really fun, and I was happy to have the company. Carson was content on sleeping on Jerads lap. I guess Carson likes men with deep voices, because he loved being held by Dave, and Jerads lap was the best place to be. Lisa is going to have her baby tonight (or tomorrow)...so it'll be exciting that Carson has a new cousin!

Carson is a great little eater, he has not had one issue with latching, which is great for mom! He also only gets up twice a night now...and that means that I'm not nearly as tired as I was. I know it most likely will revert back to being up every hour when he's growing, but for now, I'm loving the sleep! Adam is such a great help, I honestly am scared to have him go back to work, but I think I'll manage.

Carson is needing to eat, and Mom needs a nap! So we'll update again soon!

New Beginnings

We have had Carson at home with us for 8 days now, and he truly is a little handful! I posted his birth story on my Myspace, but thought it'd be nice to start a blog about our new life with a little one! This was written on 6/24/08

So, now that I'm home and am somewhat okay...i thought I'd talk about the most exciting, and best thing that has happened to me.

On Thursday, 6/19 at 2:16 am, Adam and I welcomed Carson Ray Sannes into the world. I don't think I have ever felt so much love in a room before. I was amazed as I looked at my son, realizing that we had created him...and I carried him inside of me for 9 months. It made every complaint about pregnancy I had worth it.

On the 17th, I could have sworn I was in labor. I was having contractions like no other, so much pain. Sadly enough, nothing happened. Early on the 18th, all contractions just stopped, and I was able to sleep. Mind you, looking back now, that was not labor. lol.

I woke up on the 18th, kind of crampy, but okay. I went and got started on laundry, did some dishes...played with the dog. The crampiness kept coming and going, but I thought that at this point I'd never go into labor, and would have to be induced on the 24th (which was my date to be induced!) After doing all the chores and picking up, I noticed that I was having really bad cramps every 7 minutes or so. They were painful, but not THAT bad. Definately manageable. Finally, around 3:30, I noticed how bad they were. I noticed that I was bleeding as well...so I freaked out, called the doctor, called Adam....and went to the doctors office.

At this time, we realized that my doctor was on vacation AGAIN!! So the on-call doctor checked me, told me I had not made any progress since my last appointment, and I would not be having a baby that night. He did prescribe me Ambien so that I could relax. I was in so much pain, I was barely able to walk out of the hospital...I was crying, upset, frustrated...and contracting!!
When I got home, I thought it'd be best if I took a bath...the bath didn't stop the contractions. I then went downstairs, took the Ambien, and waited for Adam to finish making dinner. Once the Ambien kicked in, I realized that I was hallucinating! I was talking to the toilet paper in the bathroom! It was bad, I was still contracting, but having conversations with random things in the house....I was miserable. I couldn't even eat, I felt so sick. Adam started playing his games on the computer, and I was attempting to relax on the couch (in between rolling around in pain during contractions). Finally, at about 8:30 I felt a gush....not a pop, not a tiny leak....freaking niagra falls...all over our brand new couch. My water broke. Adam decided that he wanted to ignore me yelling at him to help me...because he was gaming! By the time I got his attention, there was a huge mess, the dog was freaking out...and I was crying hysterically!

We got to the hospital (I don't really remember any of this)...got into our room, I got into the gown...and the nurse checked me. I was STILL only 2 cm dialated, and I was in so much pain. I seriously couldn't even talk through anything. My mom was heading to the hospital, Adams family was driving over from Wenatchee, and I wasn't progressing! The nurse (whom I love more than ANYTHING) did call the doctor to give me my epidural! Even though I was at only 2 cm. Once I got that, I was in heaven. I couldn't feel any pain. Adam would look to see when my contractions were, and I was just smiling at everyone.

Adam and I right after I got my epi!!

The nurse checked me again at 9:30, and I was about 3 cm dialated. I did have a freak out moment, crying, because I didn't want the doctor I saw today, deliver my baby. Thank god Adam was there though, he was so supportive of me. At 11:30, I was 5 cm, and at 11:35-11:40, I was fully dialated and ready to push. Everyone was schocked that I went from 5-10 cm in less than 10 minutes! All nurses that were working with us kept saying that I'd probably be delivering at around 7 am on the 19th....but they were wrong :)

My mom was in the room and Adams parents showed up just in time, as did my Aunt. I started pushing at around 12, and was making progress, but it hurt like hell! My epi was working, but the pressure is something I could never describe. The doctor did come in at around 12:30 (because the nurse thought I'd deliver any minute)...and was mad, because I was nowhere near being done!

After some help with a vaccuum (my new best friend!), Carson came into the world at 2:16 am. He was 7 lbs 11 oz and 21 inches long. He didn't cry when he was born, he was just staring at everyone. He didn't start crying until the nurses were flopping him around. He had the cutest bottom lip that stuck out, like he was pouting! I was bawling like crazy, Adam was amazed. I felt so proud, to be a mom, to experience all of this.

Carson, right after he was born!

We were discharged from the hospital on friday afternoon. Carson barely cries now, only when he is hungry or is being changed. He HATES being naked. We are working through the sleepless nights, and learning how to change diapers so that he doesn't leak through them. lol.
Adam is an amazing man, he is such a good dad. He is completely involved in everything, and is trying to take care of me (as I am still in pain, 5 days later!). I don't think I could ever ask for a better man in my life. My son is amazing, he just loves listening to people talk...and is such an adorable baby! He is really really cute (mind you, I'm biased). But from what every person that has seen him has said, he is the cutest baby. He does look exactly like Adam though, with my eyes. His eyes are very very blue, and I could stare into them for hours.
We are all doing well though. We had a doctor appt yesterday, he is gaining weight (he did lose 7 oz when we left the hospital) but he's gained 2 back. I'm doing okay, they are trying to figure out what is going on with me...but I'm surviving! Parker is a proud "big brother" and loves giving Carson kisses.

So yes, we are all happy and well. I'm so proud of Carson, Adam and my family. I don't think I could ever stop smiling from this. I have never felt so much love, and I think he has brought Adam and I closer together...and more in love.

The happy fam...

We are incredibly lucky to have a great family and friends! I know that Carson is already loved by so many...and he isn't even that old! His best friend is Parker at this moment, who loves him...and is actually protective of him!

I will try to update as much as I can...as we are busy busy busy. I know I'll have tons of new pictures to add!
